Pastor Eugene continues The Lord's Prayer Series with the the line "But deliver us from evil". He begins by explaining that evil exists because of God's gift of freedom to us. He then points out a couple common mistakes and misconceptions regarding evil:
1) Refusing the acknowledge the existence of evil or the evil one
2) Giving evil too much power and becoming paralyzed and incapable of confronting it
3) Giving evil too little credit and underestimating the power of the devil
4) Thinking that we are incapable of evil thoughts and actions
Pastor Eugene challenges us to name the temptations in our lives and to utilize this vital portion of The Lord's Prayer to prepare us for these temptations in our lives. He finishes by sharing the good news that our God is a gracious and redemptive God, who wishes to utilize us despite our shortcomings.
