The Lord's Prayer: "For Thine Is The Kingdom And The Power And The Glory Forever"

Matthew 6:9-13

Pastor Eugene preaches on the last line of The Lord's Prayer, "For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen". He points out that many scholars debate over this last line--as it is not written in Luke's account of The Lord's Prayer. Scholars speculate that this line may have been added by the early church to utilize The Lord's Prayer as a liturgy. It is important to note that this line was not arbitrarily added, as it comes from king David's prayer in 1 Chronicles 29. Pastor Eugene then addresses the difficulty of this line. As we grow older and accrue more assets, it becomes more difficult to submit and surrender our belongings to further God's Kingdom. This line does not necessarily call us to sell all of our belongings, but calls us to acknowledge that everything ultimately belongs to God.
