Worship is the love, praise, and honor that we express to God.  From icons to incesnse to chants, the church through the ages has practiced a myriad of ways to worship.  Yet, despite our rich history, the church today often equates worship only with, and then usually only one genre.  In this deptch class we'll look how can worship extend to every one of our senses.  Can we sense God's presence with sight, touch, smell, and sound?

Because worship must be lived as well as learned this depth class will be part discussion and teaching and part experience.  We will think about how we can take art, specifically painting and drawing, and use it as a means to worship -- and then we will try it.  The next week we will look at the stories behind some of our favorite hymns and songs and how the various styles of music can expand how we worship God with our voices and ears.  The classes will be taught by Christina Stockhouse, a painter and our Children's Ministry intern, and Matt Chism, a musician and worship leader.

When: Dec. 8th (mon) and Dec. 15th (mon) from 7-9pm

Where: Q Cafe

RSVP: by emailing

I am personally looking forward to this very much! I think it's important for us to keep growing in our worship knowledge/experience, and to make sure our hearts are in the right place. This seems like a great way of doing both
