Worship at Home Guide & Sermon for 12/21

As you know, Quest Church canceled our church services in light of the current snow storm [aka Snowpocalypse].  This is the first time in the 17 years of ministry that I've cancelled a Sunday gathering so this is awkward but the other elders and pastors believed this was the wisest decision for all involved.

But it's cool.  The "church" doesn't cease to be the church if it's not meeting in a building.  I hope that numerous Questers are choosing to intentionally worship at home.  In that effort, the pastors have put together a simple worship flow to guide you as you see fit.  Here's the worship guide which includes prayer, Scripture reading, and communion liturgy for this 4th Sunday of Advent.

Also, I recorded my sermon and it came to about 22 minutes but Vimeo wouldn't let me upload the sucker because it was too long.  And so I had to re-shoot which explains why I'm a little late with the video.  I've posted two videos:  a brief explanation about why we canceled services

Additionally, I've posted a 10 minute sermon.  That was not a typo. Miracles do take place.

And here's the condensed sermon on Luke 2:1-14 with three basic exhortations.

  1. Jesus came to show God's love for us.  God is with us.
  2. Jesus came to demonstrate our need for reconciliaton.  He was born...in order to die for us.
  3. Jesus came to show us a better way.  He came to invite us to a Kingdom life of peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness.

I'd encourage you to read the text for yourself and share your thoughts with your family, cgroup, or friends.

*  Don't forget that Quest is hosting our Christmas Eve service this Wednesday, Dec. 24 [7-8.15pm] at the Church Sanctuary.
