Over the past four to five years we've had the priveledge of partnering with World Relief to provide friendship and support to refugees who are relocating to the Seattle area. This past weekend World Relief found themselves in a situation where a family of three from Burma would be arriving within the next few days and they were unable to identify a host family so they contacted us. Through various connections a family came forward to commit to being the host of this refugee family. So for the next few weeks we will be hosting a family of three; a single dad with an eleven and nine year old daughters from Burma. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to get involved and help extend welcome and to be a good a host during their transition to Seattle. This support is very simple! Right now we are looking for folks who would be open to helping with a meal or two to provide for the host family and the family they are hosting. It could be a dinner-- prepared and cooked by you and dropped off at the church to be delivered to the families we are partnering with. We are also looking for any items-- furniture, bedding, towels, clothing, etc that you might have no need for anymore and that you could donate to the family as we will be helping them relocate to their own home in the next few weeks. If you are interested and would like to have more information please contact Pastor DeAnza at deanza@seattlequest.org. I look forward to serving alongside you.
His hands extended, Pastor DeAnza |

Do you know if there opportunities to host refugees in other cities? I'm in Milwaukee Wisconsin; I've read about refugees from Burma living in squalid conditions in Milwaukee recently and would like to know if my wife and I could host a family (for free of course). We live less than a block from an elementary school and have a four bedroom house - our son is going off to college in the fall.
