17|23 College

17|23 College Group

Over this next semester we'll be looking together at the big questions surrounding Life and Death through the lens of the oft-ignored book of Ecclesiastes.  Join us after the 11am service at 12:45 in the Q Cafe to share a meal, get to know one another, and to talk honestly about how Ecclesiastes illuminates beauty, tragedy, simplicity, doubt, and hope in our living and dying.  Click here to read more about the 17|23 group.

17|23 Gathering: Advent, Art, and Action

Christmas is around the corner which means a few things: finals will be over soon, time to see family, and time to shop.  Crazy fact: America spends $450 billion every year on Christmas.  We'll take a look at how Advent, the church's season of preparation for the birth of Jesus, can provide some spiritual disciplines that might enable us to escape the stress and consumer frenzy that overtakes us, including the church, each year.WHERE: Q Cafe, 3223 15th Ave WWHAT ELSE: Pizza dinner.  Transportation a problem?  Contact

A Discussion about Jesus, Shane Claiborne, and Politics

On November 9th, from 7-9pm Shane Claiborne will be speaking at Quest to talk about how Jesus revolutionizes how we think about and live out our "political life," regardless of what party we might have voted with.  We encourage you to register online, go hear Shane speak, and then join the 17|23 group to debrief and take the discussion further on Monday, November 10th from 5-6pm at the Q Cafe.  Even if you didn't go hear Shane, we still encourage you to come out and join the discussion.  The cafe will be open for drinks and studying afterwards.

Art Speaks: Icons

This week we'll be looking at icons, those strange and severe works of art that are so often seen in Greek Orthodox churches.  We'll be looking at the meaning and role of icons in the life and prayers of a believer.  We'll take a deeper look at one specific icon and discuss as a group how it speaks in 21st century Seattle.
