Community Groups
Finding a Group
Beyond Sundays, c-groups and focus groups allow us to connect, support, and grow as we learn to do life together. If you plan to visit a group, please be sure to contact the group leader ahead of time. Email addresses are listed for each group.
Group Details
C-Groups are for anyone and they incorporate study, prayer, worship, and usually food. Focus groups are for a specific group in the church, such as college students or moms. Most groups meet weekly, though check the details of the group since there are variations.

Sunday
FAMILY, Faith, and Community

Starts Oct. 5th! Getting out to a community group on a weekday evening can be difficult, particularly if you have a young family, but it’s great to be surrounded by a group of people to laugh, study, and pray with. This c-group aims to provide a low-key, informal way to start Sunday in fellowship; while it caters for families with children, all are welcome. Informal childcare will be available in the café play area and the children’s ministry will also offer provision for under 5s. We will gather at 9:15 to study a passage of Scripture, share about the ups and downs of life, and to pray; we'll be done in plenty of time before the 11am service!
INTERBAY Potluck

Wendy Lindell ()
Fellowship Hall at Quest Church
The purpose of this group is to meet, talk, enjoy a meal together, laugh, and pray. We will focus on the Interbay community, but all are welcome.
MYSTERY of Hope

DeAnza Spaulding () and Laurie Craft ()
TBD, please contact DeAnza ahead of time if you are interested in finding out more about the group.
The Mystery of Hope group will be launching again this year. This group was established out of the desire to support and care for those who are experiencing issues with depression & anxiety. We will be studying the book: The Cry of the Soul and learning ways in which we can support each other in the daily struggles of life, as well as learn how our emotions and the struggles we face give us deeper insight into the heart of God and His healing & transformative nature. If you are interested please feel free to contact either Laurie Craft @ or DeAnza Spaulding @ .
NEWCASTLE: Food & Bible Study

Jason & Jinny Koh ()
Every other Sunday @ The Kohs’ home
We are studying the Book of Ruth as we fellowship together and share
food, prayer, and scripture. We have
a number of families with children, along with other married couples - all
are welcome!
WOMEN: Life & Faith

Starts Oct. 5th! This is a c. group for women. I hope this group can be a place where women of all ages, races, ethnicities, and identities will come together and explore ways in which we are empowered as children of God. There will be food! We will share a meal while we read books and scripture together, keep each other accountable to God's vision for our lives, and hang out. We will also pick a place to serve and support other women in our community. The first book we'll read is Bad Girls of the Bible. Looking forward to seeing you fabulous femmes out there!
Monday
CORINTHIANS in Queen Anne

This group is open to anyone who would like to be part of a group dedicated to learning from each other, sharing and caring, and spending more time each week reading the Bible. We'll meet weekly to discuss and study Corinthians, and to support each other in prayer. Meet at 7:30pm to share coffee and dessert, wrapping up at 9:30pm.
Tuesday
BONHOEFFER's Life Together

Crown Hill
We are created for community and that is what these groups are about, forming strong relationships as the body of Christ. But what does authentic Christian community look like? How can we learn what community might look like in urban Seattle from an intentional Christian community forged during a time of war a half a century ago? We will read a short excerpt from Dietrich Bonhoeffer's book, Life Together each week as the launching point for these discussions. Here is an excerpt from the book that captures the overriding theme:
In other words, life together under the Word will remain sound and healthy only where it does not form itself into a movement, an order, a society, a college of piety, but rather where it understands itself as being part of the one holy, catholic, Christian Church, where it shares actively and passively in the suffering and struggles and promise of the whole church.
COLLEGE Men

Join us for discussion, Scripture study, fellowship, and prayer.
Eric is a professor of Biology at SPU and Baine is a professor of Psychology at SPU.

REVELATION and Conversation

Ballard
Our vision for this group is to grow deeper in our knowledge of God and relationships through study of Scripture, prayer, fellowship and conversation. We will be studying the Book of Revelation every other Tuesday and on alternate Tuesdays engage in conversation around any topic intersecting with our faith and life together.
Joy and I have been married for 41 years. We have a son, a daughter and three grandsons. I have a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from the UW and an M.Div from North Park Seminary. I've had an engineering career at the Boeing Co. and served as a pastor in the ECC for 25 years (bi-vocationally and full-time). I was ordained in the ECC in 1995. My passion is Christian apologetics.
Wednesday
MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDY & PRAYER Groups

Wendy Lindell ()
Conference Room in the Q Café
We will be studying the book of John. While we're open to adding new members, we do ask for a weekly commitment for the sake of continuity and depth. After the study, there is also an hour or so dedicated to prayer. Come for the study, prayer, or both!
CHOCOLATE: An Evening MOM'S Group

The vision for the group is simple: a post-dinner evening group for mom's who love being open and real. A weekly time to get out of the house, leave the kids at home and enjoy community with other mothers who need the same thing. An open environment to share, laugh, cry, experience Jesus and have community together. I notice God's presence the most when people have a place to truly be themselves. Since this will be a new group and I myself do not know many mothers that well, I hope to begin building friendships and trust. Maybe we will share our life stories together, maybe we can play cards and talk over coffee. Maybe we discuss politics, children, work, families, struggles, or share funny stories in our lives. I hope for this to become a group that engages each other, embraces our diferences as we learn and grow and have wonderfully fulfilling conversation. I do know that this will be a fabulous time and that Jesus will be there.
I have been married 7 years to my husband Brian. I am a proud mother of two (Koen (4) and Diesel (8 months)). I received my Interior Design degree from Seattle Pacific in 2002 and currently work as a contract designer on commercial/business interiors. I am a city girl, have a heart for social justice and women's rights. I am addicted to Anthropologie (the store), I love coffee and a good conversation.
FOOD and Theology

Ballard
The Bible is filled with Food Talk, but the Bible is not talking about food. It is talking about theology or God Talk. The word faith is used about 275 times in the Bible, but the verb “to eat” is used some 800 times. In this C-Group we will explore how the Bible uses the imagery of food and the table to explain deep biblical truths. We’ll look at the feast in its ancient form, its present form and its future form.
NEWCOMERS Group

Ballard
Making that transition from having Quest being a place you visit as a guest to a place you can call home can be tough. The goal of this group is to make that transition a little smoother by hosting a 6 week community group every two months specifically for those new to the church. There will be no "outsiders" because we'll all be new! We'll focus each week on a specific aspect of Quest's story or theology. There will of course be dessert and plenty of time to get to know one another.
Thursday
CELEBRATION of Discipline

Greenwood
Come on over for a wholesome meal, prayer, fellowship, and discussion of Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster. As Foster wrote, "Superficiality is the curse of our age.... The desperate need today is not for a greater number of intelligent people, or gifted people, but for deep people." Together we will work through the book, looking at the spiritual disciplines, such as meditation, simplicity, and confession, and asking why are these worth practicing? and how exactly can they fit into our hectic lives?. Bring yourself, your appetite, and an interest in the spiritual disciplines.
Nathan and Emily are continually encouraged and thankful for God’s mercy, grace, and leading in their lives. Placing Christ as the center of their marriage, they seek to learn more about Him individually, together, and in community. Nathan works in the software industry and Emily works at home. They take joy in raising their son, Ethan, within the church. Together they have a passion for reading, discussing social issues, politics, and whatever is on NPR.
JESUS' Heart for the Poor

Wallingford
We will be studying Scripture passages related to the poor and Jesus' interactions with social outcasts and those on the fringes of society. What can we learn about how we should think about and treat the poor (both locally and globally)? What can we learn FROM the poor - what lessons can we take from developing countries on the importance of community and how can we learn to value people over things. We will do more than just talk about how to help the poor. Once a month we'll go from ivory tower discussion to grassroots and hands-on by volunteering at a local non-profit.
Darwin is originally from Houston, Texas, but has been part of Quest ever since he moved to Seattle 2 years ago to work at a large software company. He left the software industry earlier this year to pursue other interests in social entrepreneurship and currently works with Pastor Eugene to start his non-profit fighting global poverty. In his free time, he enjoys photography, swing dancing, karaoke and the occasional lightsaber battle.
Randall was born and raised in Honolulu Hawaii, not far from where Barack Obama went to school. He moved to Seattle about two years ago to pursue dreams of rock stardom with his band Harrison. When not rocking out on stage, he works for a tech company out in Bellevue. He loves reading, writing, bicycling, and banging away at the drums. He's a Mac (Darwin is a PC).
MOM'S Group

Katey Hage ()
Quest Church (childcare provided - lower level toddler room)
The moms group will be working through Beth Moore's Believing God study. Originating from a concept introduced in Isaiah 43:10, Believing God examines what it means to believe God rather than only believe in Him. We will study the lives of Abraham and others from Hebrews 11 as examples of people who believed God. This is a 10 week study, so we will also spend much of the year discussing topics relevant to moms: parenting, discipline, introducing faith to our children, etc. Each week, time is spent sharing personal stories, praying for one another, relaxing together, and digging into Scripture.
Saturday
NORTHSIDE Community

Starts Oct. 11th! Northside Community is a family friendly C-Group that meets Saturday afternoons every other week. We are accommodating for families, but by no means is this group only for families. All are welcome, particularly those who live North of Seattle and seek to build community with fellow Questers who live close by. This fall we will study a number of practical topics using Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7 as our foundational text. So we will discuss topics such as money, prayer, marriage, reconciliation, peacemaking, evangelism, and politics with a focus on what it means to seek first the Kingdom of God.
