Deacons at Quest

  • Capt Ralph Hammersborg
Praise the Lord and welcome to his HOUSE! Quest I am here to serve Him, and through Him, you! You are family. My wife is Marilyn and we have three grown sons, serving Him around the country. I teach middle school science and teachers need a second job to get by; so I drive boats - thus the "captralph" business name. When not in school or at Quest, I am usually on the water - somewhere. Our community group is reading the One Year Bible, together, on Tuesday evenings in our home. I cook whole pigs and twelve turkeys at a time. I love to eat and cook; sometimes I cook breakfast for the men's group on Saturday mornings at Quest. Quest is, by choice, a part of a larger group - a denomination - called the Evangelical Covenant Church. It has resources that you should know about - ask me, please. For example: you own and are a part of (sort of a "time share") nearly 1000 acres of pristine/developed (how is that possible?) conference center at the foot of Mount Rainier.
  • Carolyn Hathaway

Carolyn came to Quest when Interbay Covenant Church merged into Quest. She joined ICC in 1980 and served as financial secretary, treasurer, and was on ICC's board at the time of their merger into Quest. Presently she is a member of a C-Group and a prayer group, and serves as a host with the coffee and greeting time between the Sunday morning services. Carolyn has been married to Jim for 53 years and they have been in their Magnolia home for 28 years. Being retired allows them time to boat, travel, and read.

  • Corey Hage

Corey, known by some as "Katey's husband," is one Quest's deacons, and has been part of Quest for more than eight years. He serves the church through the children's ministry by supporting my Katey (Quest's CM director) in her calling to love and care for that ministry. Corey also serves on the advisory board for Q Cafe and owns and runs his own business, Hage Creative, a photography company specializing in visual storytelling art.

  • Erica Anderson

Erica has been attending Quest since 2004. While not worshipping at Quest, she worships by teaching elementary school in the Renton School District. She also enjoys reading, running, baking, hiking, drinking hot beverages, and spending time with her large and friendly extended family.

  • Jack Chen

Jack and his wife La Verne joined the Quest family back in 2007 after moving to Seattle from Oakland, CA, looking for new adventures, better coffee, and just a bit more rain. A graduate of Northwestern University and the University of California, Hastings, Jack is currently an attorney at Microsoft Corporation. He is a big fan of all things related to food and loves to cook and eat (everything). Jack also serves on the worship team.

  • Louise Sneath

Louise is married to Tim and has three children, Naomi, Esther and Silas. She has been part of Quest since October 2004, soon after we moving to the U.S. from Nottingham, England. Louise is a stay-at-home "mum" with a passion for encouraging parents (especially new parents) in the demanding job of bringing up their children! She serves in Quest's nursery, leads a C-Group, and directs a monthly support group for new parents.

  • Mark To

Mark was born in Manila, Phillipines but spent most of his formative years in Vancouver, B.C. and Seattle. Mark is a graduate of the University of Washington with a B.A. in political science. During the week he works in the commercial real estate field and serves on the board of directors at D.A.D.S. Mark and his wife, Angela, live in Ravenna. He enjoys tennis, cooking, reading, UW sports, and traveling. Mark's primary focus is to help the men of the Quest community (newcomers and old-timers) connect in meaningful relationship, grow deeper in their faith, and explore what it means to "be the church."

  • Tony Nabors

Tony graduated from the University of Washington in 2006 with a degree in American ethnic studies and went on to serve as a staff worker with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship for the following three years. He has been attending Quest since fall 2006 and has been married since 2007 to his wife, Angela. He is passionate about racial reconciliation and is currently discerning the specifics of his ministry calling. Tony wears a few different hats at Quest but his primary roles are as ministry intern, deacon, and Community Groups coordinator. He enjoys sci-fi/fantasy novels, sports, video games, and listening to/creating music.

  • Tre Wyatt

Tre was born and raised in Stockton, California and moved to Seattle after doing youth and college ministry in Dallas and North Carolina. Tre has been worshiping at Quest since 2005 and works in hospice care. He is passionate about seeing people find their call and talents in the church, good coffee, and the ongoing basketball domination of the Los Angeles Lakers.

  • Vanessa Lee

Vanessa joined Quest in 2005 while studying at the University of Washington for her master's in landscape architecture. The daughter of Taiwanese immigrants, Vanessa was born and raised outside of Boston, further shaped by the granite of New Hampshire (Dartmouth College), and eventually woo-ed to the West. She now works on urban planning and transportation projects for Otak, Inc. Her passions include consuming local and ethnic foods, encouraging folks to live sustainably, residing in South Seattle with her three lovely and eligible roommates, breaking bread together, drinking tea, exploring cities and small towns, and supporting indie arts. Currently she hosts one of the southend C-Groups and helps lead the 5 p.m. service team.
