13-month Intern with World Vision (male) needs place to stay

My name is Jonathan Lo. I am the new "Murdock Faith & Justice Intern" for World Vision in Federal Way, WA. I am from the Chicago suburbs and have very few contacts in Seattle. The internship will be approximately 13 months long - from July 2010 to July 2011.

I was wondering if your church might have any resources to help me find housing in the area. What I would love the most is if there was a family willing to host me for my stay. I could certainly pay some rent… maybe some empty-nesters who have a spare bedroom? Maybe a younger couple with a spare room who wouldn't mind having a baby-sitter living in the house? Are there any recent college grads (like myself) looking for roommates in a house or apartment?

I won't have much money for rent as I'll be living off a small stipend all year. But I would love to be able to contribute what I can afford. Really, any help or contacts are greatly appreciated.

A little about myself…

I am Chinese-American. I have two very loving parents and an older sister. My home church is Chinese, but at school, I am heavily involved with the Multi-Ethnic Chapter of Illinois InterVarsity. I graduated from the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign with a BS in Electrical Engineering this month (I am 21 years old), but have found God's call to be with World Vision for the next year. God has been molding my heart to care about Justice issues in the world: I spent much of my free time Senior year engaging the campus with creative activism about poverty, hunger, disease, human trafficking, etc.

I am a musician and I love to innovate. My senior design project involved inventing a brand new instrument that is played like a piano, but resonates guitar strings without touching them. I'll be bringing my acoustic guitar to the Seattle area and writing computer music on my laptop. I plan on exploring my options for creating music in Seattle for God's glory.

I played competitive table tennis for a while… I was on the U of I Table Tennis team the first three years of college, but I had recently lost interest in pursuit of other passions (we did get 7th at Nationals two years ago though!).

Please let me know if you have any questions for me. I would love to be in contact with somebody from your church.

Please email me at jonathanlo7@gmail.com.

Thanks!
-Jonathan
