Quest eNews | 1600 | April 15 - 21, 2009

Hello Quest,

I took a few moments with calculator and calendar in hand, and attempted to count up the number of folks who came through the doors at Quest from the Call and Response film screening on Friday, April 3, through Palm Sunday and Holy Week, during the Maundy Thursday Seder, Good Friday services, Saturday Children's Easter Program, and Sunday at Whittier Elementary.  In a week and a day, about 1,600 people joined us for services.  To me, this number seems a little nuts.  It was great to have our sanctuary open during Holy Week, and to enjoy that season together, but honestly I was most excited to see that for that week, the church came together in a huge way.

Reflecting on the past week, I was most encouraged that so many people came together to create services, set up chairs, sing and make music, cook great potluck dishes, set up, tear down, clean up, hide eggs, teach children, preach messages, and in general BE the church to one another.  To be honest, our Maundy Thursday Seder meal wasn't even hosted by the church staff, but by Jeff and Jen Roach's amazing community group, with a record attendance of 120 people!  This should be a reminder that living out faith in community does not require a theology degree or official title, but hearts and hands willing to serve.  We are all privileged and hopefully empowered to live as people of the resurrection. To all of you who came together during the past weeks, THANK YOU for serving alongside as community. It has been glorious to live life with you.  Let us look forward together to the year to come!

If you are looking for a way to serve at Quest, please contact me at leah@seattlequest.org We would love to have you join us on the journey.

With joyful gratitude,
