Quest Christmas Party Happy Winter, Quest! I hope that all of you are faring well in this slipppery, snowy weather! Between the snow and the ubiquitous decor adorning practically every inch of retail space in the universe, I may be stating a bit of the obvious in saying that the holiday season is upon us. One of the great benefits of this time of year is that it gives us all a great reason to gather together as friends and family and celebrate in community. We here at Quest are excited to invite you to or own Christmas Party this coming Saturday, December 20th from 5-8pm at the Q Café. It'll be a fantastic opportunity for Questers from all three services to connect, perhaps to meet for the first time, and to simply take a moment to enjoy great food and great fellowship during this busy season. In the spirit of Northwest recycling and sustainability, Quest is inviting you and your children to participate in our re-gift exchange! Please bring a gently used wrapped gift and for our spin on the "White Elephant" gift exchange tradition. Your children are invited to bring gifts as well for a gift exchange of their own. We will also be having a potluck meal all together. If your last name begins with: A-H, please bring a side dish; if your last name begins with I-O, please bring a dessert; if your last name begins with P-Z, please bring a main dish. I also still need a couple more volunteers to help with set-up and clean up so if you're able/willing to help, send me an email at office@seattlequest.org. Oh! One last thing: after the party, Life Together (our post-college pre-family ministry) is hosting a Christmas movie viewing from 8-11pm! Vote for your favorite holiday film by emailing team-life-together@googlegroups.com. It is chilly! With the snow and ice, we all are attempting to keep warm! Imagine what it might mean for someone who is homeless, living in a tent or in their car?? It is extremely difficult in these conditions to stay warm and to merely SURVIVE. Today on NPR, Tim Harris director of Real Change shared that even with shelters operating at Emergency capacity-- it only opens up mats for 140 more people-- leaving the 2,300 men and women who are exposed to these conditions without any warm place to go. Through the To the Streets ministry we have a small window to provide for the need. This Saturday we'll be holding our monthly distribution. We want to be able to give each person a warm blanket and coat to help shelter from the cold. Can you help? Please check your closets and drawers for extra warm blankets, sleeping bags and coats or ask your friends, co-workers, family members if they have any extra supplies they can donate towards sheltering the homeless? Once you collect these items-- please bring them by Quest Church or Q Cafe and drop them off to be handed out at To the Streets on Saturday. The remaining coats and blankets will be dropped off at Real Change and the Ballard Food Bank. Thank you for your partnership in ministry!
Blessings,
