Quest eNews | Easter Weekend | April 8 - 14, 2009

easter invitation

Hello Quest,

Spring has finally arrived in Seattle and what incredible timing as we gear up for Easter Weekend here at Quest. Though I know we've told you all a time or two (or seven?) about the things we've got planned but since it's crunch time and since we sincerely are that enthused about this weekend, I thought I'd give it one last push.

This coming Sunday, April 12th at 11am, we will be having one joint service at Whittier Elementary. It will be an incredible opportunity to join with Questers from all three services to worship together and celebrate the resurrected Christ. It's not often that we have the space and occasion to gather all of us in the same building at the same time so needless to say, we're quite excited about this one. Right after the service, we will be continuing the fellowship time with a potluck lunch on site at Whittier from 1-3pm. If your last name starts with the letters A-R: please bring a main or side dish; if your last name starts with the letters S-Z: please bring a dessert. Invite friends, family, neighbors and anyone else who might still be looking for a place to worship this Easter! And Questers, we still need a few more volunteers to help us out with set-up, clean-up and greeting so if you're able and willing, please send me an email at office@seattlequest.org.

We'll be observing Good Friday here at Quest with two services at 6 and 8pm this coming Friday. The 6pm service is for our Quest families and childcare will be provided. Join us as we meditate on the scandalous and sacrificial passion of Jesus through scripture, song and prayer.

Those are the two big activities but we've actually got some exciting things going on every day of this week. Tonight and tomorrow night we'll be having a time of open worship and prayer here at Quest from 7-7:45pm, the sanctuary will remain open until 9pm; Thursday we'll be having a Passover Seder at 6:30pm (RSVP with jeff@jnjroach.com); and Saturday we'll be having an Easter Egg Hunt for our amazing kids here at Quest from 10am-1pm. I know that's a whole lot of stuff but I think I can speak on behalf of the staff when I say that we're purposefully not in the habit of over-programming just for the sake of filling up our calendar. We try to make sure that everything we plan has a purpose and reflects the heart of our community and this Holy Week's activities are certainly no exception. So while it's a busy season, it's also an exciting and joyful season and we hope that many of you -- and though it's lofty to hope perhaps even all of you -- will join us this week, especially this Sunday, as we celebrate the events that are most central to our faith: the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. If you have questions about these events or anything else going on at Quest, please don't hesitate to let me know!
