Ash Wednesday Service

Hello Quest!

I wanted to take yet another opportunity to invite you all to our Ash Wednesday service this Wednesday, February 25th in the Quest Sanctuary from 7:00-7:45am (doors will open at 6:45am). I don't blame those of you who (like me) were a bit taken aback by the proposal of an early morning service and I certainly understand your hesitation if you (again, like me) are not among those infuriating morning people (only kidding morning people; we love you too!). And since most of you don't have the privilege I do of being in such close quarters with the staff, for the benefit of my fellow night owls let me assure you that the sacrifice of sleep will be made well worth it. Quest is joining with the larger church body in the rhthym of beginning the Lenten season with a morning service so that we can receieve the imposition of ashes. This visible sign will serve as a symbol to us and to the people we encounter throughout our day of our repentance, quite literally pointing us back to the cross. While we know it's super early and perhaps not the most ideal time, we also think this will be a wonderful opportunity for the Quest Commuinty to engage the church at large in this way. You're welcome to invite friends and family and children are also invited to participate in the service. Click here to see a short video about the service.

So please, get to bed a little earlier and set those alarm clocks (multiple, if you're like me)! We hope to see you all early Wednesday morning. If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please don't hesitate to contact me here in the office: office@seattlequest.org.

  • VOCATIONAL REVISIONING SUPPORT GROUP. Being jobless isn't easy financially, emotionally, or spiritually.  As a church we're committed to the idea that you shouldn't have to go it alone.  Quest member and Old Testament scholar J.P. Kang is looking to start a group that would meet weekly to support each other as a community, to help with both the nitty-gritty aspects of finding a job and writing a resume, and looking to Scripture for help in discovering our vocation.  If you're interested email office@seattlequest.org with your name and what would be a good time to meet.
  • LIVE MUSIC @ THE Q. Friday:Noah Gunderson, Garage Voice, The Barefoot Contingent. Doors at 7:30pm, show at 8pm. All ages - $7. For more information or to volunteer during future live music shows, contact melissa@qcafe.org.

  • LIFE TOGETHER. Life Together invites you to come join us for a chii feed and game night March 7th from 6-10pm in the church basement. Dinner will be provided (there will be chili for both carnivores and vegetarians) and we'll have games set up, including Rock Band! It will be a great opportunity to meet new folks and connect with other post-college Questers. For more information and to RSVP, contact team-life-together@googlegroups.com.
  • 17|23 COLLEGE GROUP. Over this next semester we'll be looking together at the big questions surrounding Life and Death through the lens of the oft-ignored book of Ecclesiastes.  Join us every Sunday after the 11am service at 12:45pm at the Q Cafe to share a meal, get to know one another, and to talk honestly about how Ecclesiastes illuminates beauty, tragedy, simplicity, doubt, and hope in our living and dying.  Click here to read more about the 17|23 group. Questions? Contact jason@seattlequest.org.
  • LEARNING TO LAMENT DEPTH CLASS. We all experience grief and loss. The apostle Paul exhorts us to "weep with those who weep" (Ro. 12:15). How do we do that? How do we lament and grieve for others and ourselves? The psalmist invites us to learn that "weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning" (Psalm 30:5). Join Pastor Ray as together, we learn to lament. Monday, March 23rd at 7pm at the Q Café. For more information and to RSVP, contact jason@seattlequest.org.
