Children's Ministry: Parents

PARENTS, WELCOME TO QUEST CHILDREN'S MINISTRY!

There is no greater joy than that of serving God, but it could also be said that working with God’s little kids can be THE most joyful experience when it is mixed with just the right measure of love, passion, enthusiasm, and energy. It is our hope that this is a ministry where you feel at home, comfortable to let your kids soak in God with their peers, and a place where you feel empowered to be served and to serve.

At Quest, the people who lead the children have felt a call to children’s ministry, and have received the commission from Christ himself in Matthew 19:14 when He says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these”. It is not enough to not prevent them from being enveloped in Jesus’ embrace. We have been called to bring them to His feet, to usher them into His presence, to encourage them to seek the Lord.

We hope that you would feel the excitement we have in this opportunity to help children discover their Heavenly Father. As your kids participate in ministry it is our hope and prayer that we would be a compliment to the spiritual formation that goes on in your home, as you raise children who love and serve the Lord. If you are new to faith or still seeking understanding about who God is, we encourage you to participate, join the community, and find a safe environment where you and your children can explore the faith together.

KEEPING KIDS SAFE: Child Abuse Prevention and Safety Policies

"People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them. But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, "˜let the children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a child will never enter it.' And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them" (Mark 10:13-16, NIV).

This passage from the ministry of Jesus speaks of the value he placed on children and the example of faith they provide. As followers of Jesus we understand that children are inherently valuable members of Christ's community. We resolve to protect children in their vulnerability and also to learn from them as we grow in faith.

It is our hope and purpose to provide a safe environment for children where they can learn, discover and grow in their knowledge and love for God. Unfortunately, we live in a world of sin where trust alone is no longer a safe or effective avenue for our children. As we develop and change as a church body, so must our approach to protecting our children. We desire church to be a fellowship that Quest kids look forward to and a place where they ultimately choose a relationship with Jesus. We will take the appropriate steps necessary to insure church is a positive experience where children are free to be themselves and free to wrestle, explore and be nurtured in their faith process.

Our culture is experiencing an increase in the incidence of child abuse and neglect. As much as we do not like to think about abusive and hurtful things happening in the Church, it is clear that it is our duty as the Church to guard and protect the children, youth, church staff and volunteers who participate in our ministries. (Child Abuse Prevention and Safety Policies, Quest Church 2006)

We have created child abuse prevention and safety policies which we work as a church to uphold in order that the children and families of Quest will be safe. To find out more about our safety policies, email .
