Faith and Race: "Celebration Sunday"
Pastor Eugene concludes our 5 week series entitled Faith and Race: "Who's At The Table?" As he preaches from John 9:1-7, Pastor Eugene reminds the church three main things:
1) The Kingdom of God is the most important aspect of the Kingdom of God,
2) Faith and Courage are required to walk with mud in your face,
3) We don't just tolerate; We don't just celebrate; We must confess our need for one another.
Finally, we celebrated the end of our Faith and Race series today with a feast of breads as diverse as the people in our church.

Faith and Race: "Friendships and Relationships"
During Week 2 of the series on Faith and Race: "Who's at the Table?", Pastor Eugene preaches on the importance of cross cultural friendships. It's not enough to sit next to each at church but what does it mean to share stories, do life together, bless one another, eat with one another, etc. He preaches from John 4 and the amazing and incredulous story of Jesus' engagement and friendship with the Samaritan woman.

Faith and Race: Introduction
The first sermon of the Faith and Race series examines the connection between being a disciple, a follower of Christ, and race/ethnicity. In following Christ we are called to be self-reflective, to examine what aspects of our life are not conforming to the image of Christ. In being a multicultural community, the entirety of our stories and our bodies must be present in the community's journey as God's people.

Lent: He Must Increase. I Must Decrease
As we enter the Lenten season, Pastor Eugene preaches from Matthew 4:1-11. Lent is the 40 day period (not including Sundays) between Ash Wednesday and Holy Saturday that has traditionally been a time of preparation for those who were preparing for baptism and later expanded to include the larger Christian community. It marks a time of prayer, penance, repentance, humility, self-denial, and soul searching but Pastor Eugene preaches that if we're not careful, Lent - like other Christian rituals - can become empty or routine and simply about us if we don't understand it's purpose and meaning. The purpose of Lent is for us to model after Christ. Simply, to be more like Christ.

What is Reconciliation
As Quest embarks on the theme of "Reconciliation" for the year, Pastor Eugene preaches from 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 and explains the critical importance of a clear understanding of reconciliation for the Church and for Christians. A clear understanding helps for a cornerstone for our worldview and how we then choose to live our lives, engage in ministry, and serve a broken world. While we live in a broken world and we, ourselves, are broken 'eikons', we bear the image of God and must remind ourselves and the larger world...to whom we belong.
